“Weston Was Super!” – Daish’s Holidays Seaside Showcase
9/24/2025
Group travel organisers from across the UK flocked to Weston-super-Mare last week for Daish’s Holidays’ latest GTO Showcase – and left with glowing reviews of the Somerset seaside resort.
Based at
Daish’s Sandringham Hotel, ideally positioned on the seafront opposite the
Grand Pier, the 19–22 September showcase offered delegates a three-day
programme of fact-finding visits, networking and entertainment.
Organised
in partnership with Steve Reed Tourism Ltd, the itinerary highlighted some of
the best group-friendly attractions in the region. Highlights included
Glastonbury Abbey, Wells Cathedral, Clarks Village, Hestercombe Gardens and
Gloucester Cathedral, with expert guides on hand to bring each venue to life.
Delegates
also enjoyed a unique walking tour of Weston-super-Mare, delivered by the
town’s enthusiastic “Weston Welcomers” team and officially launched by the
Mayor. Warren Parker-Mills of Weston Town Council set the scene with an
engaging presentation on new developments, from the restoration of Birnbeck
Pier to the town’s growing calendar of festivals – and even plans for an
expanded seagull screeching competition!
Martin Jenkins
of Daish’s Holidays said:
“The
Sandringham team pulled out all the stops to ensure a memorable showcase for
our GTO guests. We’re grateful for the fantastic support from Weston-super-Mare
Town Council and all the attractions who welcomed us so warmly.”
The
seaside showcase is part of Daish’s ongoing commitment to supporting the group
travel trade. Looking ahead, the company has announced its next major
familiarisation event: the Three Resorts Showcase (29 March – 2 April
2026). Based at the Sands Hotel in Bournemouth, the programme will also feature
Weymouth in Dorset and the original Daish’s Hotel in Shanklin, Isle of Wight.
Tour planners interested in attending can register their interest via steve@stevereedtourism.co.uk.
Warren
Parker-Mills of Weston Town Council added:
“It was a
pleasure to meet so many tour planners and hear what they need to bring groups
to Weston. From the feedback we received, they thoroughly enjoyed their
experience in the resort.”
