A hotel famed for its close association with Agatha Christie has written another successful chapter in the UK travel trade story.

Workshops Already Plotted

The Old Swan Hotel
in Harrogate, Yorkshire, played host to the latest Group Travel Workshop
organised by Steve Reed Tourism Ltd. In partnership with Classic Lodges Hotels,
the event on 17th November attracted group travel organisers and
coach and tour operators from across the country, all keen to discuss group
booking opportunities with attractions, hotels and destinations.
Delegates also
enjoyed a familiarisation visit to the nearby Royal Horticultural Society’s
Harlow Carr Garden following the workshop and meetings.
It was no mystery that
group bookings took centre stage at this standout event in the UK tourism
calendar.
Exhibitors
included East Lancashire Railway; The Lowry; the RHS; Ena Mill Retail; The
Olympus Restaurant, Bolton; Visit Durham; Staybridge Suites Newcastle upon
Tyne; Ullswater ‘Steamers’; Marketing Cheshire; Ampleforth Abbey; the Yarn
Market Hotel, Dunster; and Classic Lodges Hotels.
The workshop at
the iconic Harrogate hotel was the latest in a series of similar events
presented at leading venues around the UK. The Old Swan itself became the focal
point of a major film about Agatha Christie starring Dustin Hoffman and Vanessa
Redgrave.
‘We love choosing
iconic venues to stage these important events, and the Old Swan was an obvious
choice for Harrogate,’ says Steve Reed of Steve Reed Tourism Ltd.
‘For 2026, we’ve
already plotted two further high‑profile workshops for the travel trade at
Brooklands Museum in Surrey on 20 April and Chester Zoo on 19 October. Both
will be arranged in conjunction with Daish’s Holidays.’
