News Release from Steve Reed Tourism Ltd
Festival Spotlight to Shine on VIPS
20.07.09
One of the country’s top festivals is to be under the spotlight of a group of important UK tour professionals.
The much respected and world-famous Stockton International Riverside Festival [SIRF] will be hosting a special showcase visit by around 20 coach and tour operators from around Great Britain with the base for the VIPS being the popular Stockton-North Premier Inn near Wolviston just off the A19.
Arranged by Stockton Borough Council, supported by ONE NorthEast the Regional Development Agency and coordinated by UK travel specialists Steve Reed Tourism Ltd from Corbridge in Northumberland, the event takes place 2nd and 3rd August.
The group will descend upon Stockton with a view to assessing the area’s potential to bring groups of visitors back and the guests will also take in some of Stockton and indeed the North East’s top group attractions during their stay.
They’ll enjoy a tranquil cruise on the River Tees with the Teesside Princess Cruise Boat before taking in the historic and charming town of Yarm.  The spectacle of the Stockton’s famous Tees Barrage and a trip to the Castlegate Quay Watersports Centre are on the schedule for the visitors who will also sample Preston Hall Museum, HM Bark Endeavour and the Green Dragon Yard just off Stockton High Street – one of the widest streets in Great Britain.
Stockton International Riverside Festival is Europe's largest free open air festival. Now in its 22nd year, the festival features a four day programme of outdoor theatre, street entertainment, circus, music and dance, held from Thursday 30th July until Sunday 2nd August.

Supported by a 1,000 strong community carnival and a star-studded Fringe, SIRF 2009 promises its family-friendly entertainment will, once again, prove worthy of the title 'Best Cultural Event in the North East'.
